The camp sits next to a main crossing point used by the wildebeest in the Great Migration. Guests can watch the herd make this perilous crossing from their riverside tent or from the two communal decks.
Rekero is within the Maasai Mara National Reserve so walks and night drives cannot be offered from here. Fortunately, both activities can be done at Rekero's sister camps Naboisho Camp and Encounter Mara Camp in the nearby Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Guests choose to split their time between Rekero and Naboisho or Encounter Mara.
Species that can be seen from Rekero include lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, occasional rare black rhino, and hippo. Look out for the superb birdlife or visit the local Maasai communities to learn about local traditions and cultures.
Rekero Camp is situated in a prime location overlooking the Talek River in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp is 30 minutes’ drive from Ol Kiombo Airstrip and 45 minutes from Musiara Airstrip
Mara River is only a short drive from camp.
Nine classic, spacious safari tents are set among the trees overlooking the Talek River. Each tent has an en suite bathroom with a flushing toilet and hot-water shower. The front part of each tent is furnished with a day bed.
There are two family tents at Rekero, each with two separate bedrooms, sleeping up to five people per tent.
