Foreigners who intend to visit Tanzania do not have to go through the hassle of applying for visas. With US$50 and a couple of questions, you get a visa once you arrive In Dar es Salam or Arusha. The East Africa Single Visa does not apply to Tanzania if you’ll over-landing.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may want to avoid contact with the visa process at the entry point and make sure you have your visa before you jet in. Thanks to technology, this can be done online with little or no hustle as long you have the requirements to getting the visa like passport copy, yellow fever card copy, and other Covid standard requirements by the government.
A visa is required each time you enter the United Republic of Tanzania. It is recommended to obtain your visa prior to travel, however visas are available at the entry ports of Dar es Salaam International Airport, Zanzibar International Airport, Kilimanjaro International Airport and Namanga Entry Point. Visas can be obtained from any Diplomatic or Consulate Mission of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Most visitors to Tanzania require visas whether visiting for a holiday or to conduct business. Visas can be obtained on arrival at Dar es Salaam International Airport, Kilimanjaro International Airport, and the border posts of Namanga, Tunduma, Taveta and Holili. But it is advisable to apply for a visa from the nearest Tanzanian Embassy or Consulate before travelling to Tanzania. Some airlines will not allow passengers to embark on a flight to Tanzania without a valid visa.
There are two international airports in Tanzania – Dar es Salaam International Airport (DAR) 15 kilometers from City Center and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), 50 kilometers from Arusha.
