Built in coral stone and mangrove timber, the town is characterized by the simplicity of structural forms enriched by such features as inner courtyards, verandas, and elaborately carved wooden doors.

Lamu Island Holiday Itinerary

Day 1

Relaxation

Welcome to Bonfire package to Lamu. Transfer to Wilson Airport, Nairobi for your flight to Lamu. The flight departs at 1315 hrs and lands at Lamu at 1500 hrs. On arrival you will be met and transferred by boat to the Beach Hotel on Lamu Island.Arrive the hotel spend the rest of the day relaxing in the room, poolside and beach.

Day 2

Discover Lamu

Start the day with a visit to Lamu Town which is a World Heritage Site. UNESCO describes it as: “The oldest and best preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa, retaining its traditional functions. Most important attractions are the fishing and vegetable markets, Lamu Fort, Lamu Museum and the Stone Town. Afternoon visit to Takwa Ruins situated on the south side of Manda Island Founded around year 1500 and abandoned around 1700, The Great Mosque at Takwa is relatively well preserved... Breakfast at leisure and morning free for shopping and exploring the Island the Island. Seafood lunch at your hotel and spend the afternoon relaxing. Dinner and overnight at Beach Hotel.

Day 3

Departure

After breakfast, you spend the morning at leisure followed by lunch at the hotel. At 1430 hrs, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi departing at 1600 hrs. You land in Nairobi at 1745 hrs after which you are transferred to your Nairobi hotel.
