Kicheche Mara is a simple but beautiful tented camp, set along a stream with excellent views of vast savanna plains. During the migration months of July to October, these plains can be covered in wildebeest, which can both be seen and heard from the camp. The nine tents have a real bush feel and no fence separating it from the surrounding wildlife.
Kicheche Mara Camp is one of three Kicheche camps in the Masai Mara, the others being Kicheche Bush Camp and Kicheche Valley Camp and has the same relaxed and intimate feel as the others.
Everything about Kicheche Mara is authentic. It is a rustic camp with good-quality fitting and finishing. The camp's location in Mara North means that you can enjoy game drives in quieter, less-crowded conservancy, at the same time have access to the renowned wildlife viewing in the national reserve.
Four of the tents are set up as triples and there is one special family unit consisting of two bedrooms which are interconnected by a central lounge area. Kicheche Mara is one of the best camps for families and groups of friends traveling together.
Kicheche offers escorted walking safaris with overnight stays in a fly-camp in the bush. The excursions are led by a guide and an armed ranger. It is an excellent opportunity to see the Mara from a different perspective.
Kicheche Mara is in the Mara North Conservancy outside the Masai Mara National Reserve. Game drives are mainly within the game rich Conservancy. The Mara North Conservancy, which covers 300 square kilometers, has 12 camps only. MNC rules state that no more than five vehicles are allowed at one animal sighting.
Kicheche Mara is a well-designed, small bush camp located in Acacia Valley in Mara North Conservancy. Mara North is the nearest Airstrip, which is 30 minutes’ drive.
There are nine well-spaced tents at Kicheche Mara. Each tent has views into the surrounding woodland and feels very peaceful. The interior has a rustic design with woven mats which cover the majority of the canvas floor. On the veranda at the front of the tent are comfortable directors' chairs to sit on and watch for passing game.
Four of the tents are triples and one special family tent with two bedrooms. The en-suite bathroom is at the back of the tent and has a flush toilet and hot shower.
